Introduction

Welcome to dave-stockdale.com. Here you can find information about projects that I have been working on as well as some bits of code that you may find useful from time to time. Generally speaking, I develop systems using open source technology, and as such you will find that I share most of what I have done.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
- Douglas Adams

I like to think that the web based technologies I use can be used to solve most problems, although I suspect that I'll never be able to create a system that results in world peace. Still, the solutions to smaller problems, such as how to shuffle the music on a really cheap MP3 Player that doesn't come with a shuffle function, are very much achievable with open source technologies, and you'll find that they are shared on this site.

Current Project(s)

I am currently working on an accessible photo gallery. Accessibility is an important part of the web, and one of the big areas where blind users are being left out is in photo galleries. A while ago I was talking to John Sexton, a visually impaired web developer, about photo galleries and how people like himself are unable to "view" them. He suggested this idea to me, and I agreed to take it on. The ultimate goal is a fully accessible gallery that allows all users to appreciate someone's holiday snaps regardless of disability.

Once completed, this will appear within the Open Source section of this website
